Notes:   $65.80, Ink Burn. Tallahassee, Florida Post Note Aug. 12, 1840 Benice 62 PMG Very Fine 25. The bank’s organization was approved in 1833. It did not meet interest payments on its bonds in 1841, suspended in 1842, and had the legislature put it in liquidation in 1843. Post notes such as this example were issued around 1840, attesting to the bank’s perilous financial condition. This note features a grand vignette of Nehamathla, an early Native American Florida leader and has two endorsements on the back. PMG notes some ink erosion in those endorsements. This is our first offering of this type.
