OBSOLETE CURRENCY…..Albany, PA- Follweiler & Heinly at Anthracite Bank, Tamaqua 25¢ Nov. 12, 1862 Hoober 3-1 PMG Very Fine 25.
This merchant scrip note was payable at the Anthracite Bank in Tamaqua, some 22 miles away. The note features a blue-green 25 protector and large vignettes of a seated sailor and a cupid, representing Commerce, seated by a dog lying next to a safe representing Fidelity. Very Scarce, with four examples known to us at present.
