Description

Apalachicola,  Commercial Bank of Florida $10 Dec. 1, 1835 G12 PMG Very Fine 25 ..WITH GUTTER FOLD ERROR UPPER RIGHT CORNER!! Apalachicola, FL- Commercial Bank of Florida was incorporated in 1833 over the governor’s veto. The bank remained in business until 1837 when the bank’s controlling stockholder and president, Hugh Stephenson left town with the bank’s assets. Although he was arrested and the assets returned, the Panic of 1837 was enough additional stress to cause the bank’s suspension shortly thereafter.  A pretty lightly circulated example with no repairs or meaningful condition impairments noted. This note is fully issued with legitimate signatures of Clark and Maclay.
