This note bears the manuscript endorsement: Mch 5 / 63 /D H Thomas / Capt & AQM as well as a large format issue rubberstamp from the Assistant Treasurer’s Office in Jackson, MS, issuing the note on January 23, 1863 and a standard black Richmond IP stamp paying interest to January 1, 1864. At the time this note was endorsed by Thomas, he was serving in Vicksburg, MS as Post Quartermaster. Thomas survived the war, being paroled at Houston, TX on June 27, 1865. The note is well printed on high quality paper with nice margins and colors (the HUNDRED protector retains its full original orange color). This is one of two examples of this endorsement known…….
