A January 6, 1863 dated example with an issuance date of January 30, 1863 penned on the back by Major Paxton. Paxton was stationed at Lynchburg and saw to the supply of horses and material to Robert E. Lee’s army. Pages 560-69 discuss Paxton’s military career in the McNeil reference.
