John Urquhart Ansley was a First Lieutenant and Military Store Keeper at the Atlanta Arsenal when he issued this note on November 22, 1862. After the fall of Atlanta in September, 1864, he was commissioned as a Captain of Infantry in Georgia, reporting to the Chief of Ordnance. The note bears his manuscript issuing endorsement as well as two Augusta IP stamps paying interest to January 1, 1863 and 1864. While this note has seen time in circulation it has avoided any repairs or meaningful condition impairments.
