This note was issued to the field on March 4, 1863 by Martin Walt, Major & Quartermaster. At the time this note was issued, Walt was serving as Major & Quartermaster reporting to General S.A.M. Wood, Army of Tennessee. It was issued in the period between the Battle of Stones River and the beginning of the Tullahoma Campaign, placing the point of issue someplace in Tennessee, perhaps in Tullahoma itself. Walt survived the war, surrendering on April 19, 1865 in North Carolina and signing the Oath of Allegiance on May 11, 1865 in Nashville. THIS IS A RARITY 12 NOTE WITH 6-10 KNOWN
