T8 $50 1861 PF-4 Cr. 18 PCGS Choice New 63PPQ.

This $50 was from the first series of notes printed by Hoyer

 & Ludwig shortly after the beginning of the war. The note

 was printed on thick bond paper that was really not the ideal

 choice for notes expected to circulate, as it did not wear

 well. Thus, it is especially nice to be able to offer an example

 which has survived the intervening 163 years in virtually the

 same condition as the day it was printed. This Bb plate note

 has “for” printed before “Treasr.” and was one of about

 35,704 printed of this variety.
