Tallahassee, FL- Henry L. Rutgers 25¢ Jan. 1, 1842 Benice 92 PMG Very Fine 20……Rutgers was at one time the Treasurer of the Florida Territory and Cashier of the Bank of Florida. This note, payable at the Union Bank of Florida, was issued before that bank suspended specie payments and shut down later in 1842 and before Rutgers became associated with the revived Bank of Florida in 1843, suggesting that this was a private issue of Rutgers rather than one made by him in any official capacity. This note appeared as the plate note in the Benice Florida catalog..…….This is a very rare note!!!!
