The main use for notes from this 1864 emission was for the relief of families of the state’s soldiers serving in the Civil War. The $2 features a large passenger train vignette and a large red TWO protector flanked by vignettes of an allegorical maiden holding a hand scythe at left and a Native American woman at right. This variety is printed on paper watermarked W.T. & Co.
